Introduction |
The NES-004 controller is part of the third generation of videogame system utilizing the concepts of both analog and dial systems. The NES-004 features an all-digital input with directional controls on the left side of the device and actions controls on the right. Thanks to the simplistic yet durable design many NES-004 controllers are still around to this day, but a big issure that is becoming more prevalent with age is faulty connections in the wiring and buttons. These main problems are the ones addressed in this guide. In between the two outer gray plastic case plates lies the printed circuit board made of a non-conductive material that all the rest of the controller components hook up to. Underneath the eight buttons on the face plate are eight metal circles divided by a non-conductive material, each surrounded by a rubber garment and metallic piece. The metallic piece completes a broken circuit when a button is pressed. The input is sent down five wires inside the cable to the console. At these critical solder points and wire connections between the button to the controller and controller to the cable is where issues most often arise. |
