Interface Terminal Rubber Caps
Introduction
There are two interface terminal caps on the left side of the camera body covering the connectors for the microphone, remote, USB and HDMI cables. These caps tend to tear off after the rubber has hardened over the years.
In theory it should be possible to replace these caps without disassembling parts of the camera body. However I was unable to get the rubber straps of the replacement parts into their openings. When pressure is applied, the straps bend instead of going in. My tools were either to big to fit into the hole or they would cut through the rubber.
This is why I had to remove the the I/F terminal cover.

Conclusion
* Screw the interface terminal cover to the camera body. ***Do not overtighten the screws.***
* Replacing the grip rubber is left as an exercise to the reader. If you are lucky, the original adhesive film will still work.
