Taking off the cover is a prerequisite to most repairs barring the battery replacement. Using a standoff screwdriver and plastic/metal spudger should be all you need.

 It is also very importantTake care to use the correct orientation when trying to pry off the cover. If you try to loosen the wrong side you will, for one struggle mightily, and you could also breakrisk breaking the retaining clip holding it down on one side. The screws holding down the t=retaining clip are 8.5 mm in size.
