Introduction
If you notice that your laptop is overheating, a damaged or cluttered fan may be the culprit. The fan is responsible for cooling the laptop's internal components and maintaining proper ventilation while the laptop is running. A fan may lose its functionality due to either trauma from repeatedly dropping your laptop, or from dust accumulation around the fan blades. Follow this replacement guide to replace the damaged fan from your laptop to resolve any overheating issues.
For this procedure, the bottom panel and battery will both need to be removed before replacing the fan. A T5 Torx screwdriver is required to remove the Torx screws from the bottom panel, along with a Jimmy tool to detach the bottom panel from the laptop. A Phillips head #000 screwdriver is required to remove the screws from both the battery pack and the fan itself.
Ensure that the laptop is completely powered off before removing the fan or tampering with any of the laptop's internal components.
