Introduction
Follow this guide to remove and replace a broken or drifting joystick (aka analog stick) for the Xbox Series X/S controller.
This repair requires [guide|750|intermediate soldering skills|new_window=true]. Removing the existing joystick module is the hardest part. Normally—normally, you'd use a hot air station to desolder all the contacts simultaneously to extract the joystick. This guide shows how to cut apart the joystick module so that you can desolder the pieces individually with only a [product|IF145-494|soldering iron|new_window=true].
Replace the drifting joystick with a [product|IF462-021|TMR joystick module|new_window=true] to fix stick wear and drift permanently.
