Title
Repair Daewoo soup maker SDA1714
Introduction
The less than 4 year old, hardly used soup-maker was brought into a repair cafe as it was completely dead when plugged into the mains socket. Perhaps this fault is common, judging by reviews and items for sale on ebay as 'not working/parts only'
The fault was due to poor contacts between the lid and the jug, as found doing continuity testing. The solution was to spray the male connector with electrical contact cleaner, then join the lid to the jug about twenty times or more to clean the mating surfaces.
I suspect some soup had fallen down or was pushed down into the connector on the jug side and dried to give a non-conducting barrier. This is a bit of a fundamental design fault which is not highlighted in the instructions other than 'do not immerse in liquid'.
