Some signs you may need to check the condition of your PlayStation's liquid metal are overheating, thermal throttling, or poor performance—these signs could also mean a faulty or dirty fan.
The liquid metal in your PlayStation 5 can oxidize over time, or become unevenly spread on the APU and heatsink. If the liquid metal has oxidized, it will look dried-out or cracked and will need to be replaced. If it's just unevenly covered, you can re-spread it evenly across the surfaces of the APU and heatsink.
