Introduction |
Use this guide to test the defrost thermistor on your LG refrigerator. | | ***This guide will work for most LG refrigerators.*** This guide is written with an LG model LFX25973 refrigerator. If you have a different model, you may encounter some minor disassembly differences, but the overall repair process will be the same. | | The defrost thermistor monitors the temperature of the defrost process and signals the control board when the heat needs to be shut down. | | If the defrost thermistor fails, the refrigerator will have trouble defrosting. Also a couple of error codes could be triggered. These will be displayed on the front of the refrigerator next to the water and ice dispensertemperature displays. They willmay include the ***''dH''*** error if the unit isn't defrosting properly, and the ***''dS''*** error if the sensor is malfunctioning (Either short circuit or open circuit). | | Replacing the defrost sensor involves splicing wires in the freezer compartment. You can check to see if the connector is not plugged in properly when you check the sensor. |
