Introduction
Use this guide to test the defrost thermistor on your LG model LFX25973 refrigerator.
The defrost thermistor monitors the temperature of the defrost process and signals the control board when the heat needs to be shut down.
If the defrost thermistor fails, the refrigerator will have trouble defrosting. Also a couple of error codes could be triggered. These will be displayed on the front of the refrigerator next to the water and ice dispenser. They will include the ***''dH''*** error if the unit isn't defrosting properly, and the ***''dS''*** error if the sensor is malfunctioning (Either short circuit or open circuit).
Replacing the defrost sensor involves splicing wires in the freezer compartment. You can check to see if the connector is not plugged in properly when you check the sensor.
