Introduction
Use this guide to test and replace the flap door motor on your LG refrigerator.
***This guide will work for most LG refrigerators.*** This guide is written with an LG model LFX25973 refrigerator. If you have a different model, you may encounter some minor disassembly differences, but the overall repair process will be the same.
The flap door keeps outside air from entering the ice maker compartment. This prevents frost buildup, which could cause problems with the ice maker.
If the flap door motor won't operate, there will be one of two problems. If the flap door wondoesn't open, no ice will be dispensed and the ice may jam in the ice bucket. Conversely, if the flap door won't close, the ice maker may malfunction because of an ice/frost buildup.
