Use this guide to test the thermal fuse on your Whirlpool Dryer, and replace it if necessary.
While this guide is listed as difficult, this is more of a reflection of length, and a few tricky steps, rather than a need for special skills.
The thermal fuse protects your dryer (and clothes) from overheating. The dryer will not start if the thermal fuse is blown.
It's easiest to test the fuse while it's in place on the blower housing. Replacement is very simple if the fuse is blown.
***This guide will work for most Whirlpool dryers.*** This guide is written with a model WED87HED dryer. If you have a different model, you may encounter some minor disassembly differences, but the overall repair process will be the same.
