Introduction
Use this guide to walk you through the steps to test and replace the outlet thermistor on your Whirlpool Duet WED87HED dryer.
Although this repair is rated as difficult, the main difficulty is the extentlength of disassembly of the dryer, especially the front bulkhead. Take your time and don't force things.
The outlet thermistor is the basic temperature control sensor for your dryer. The resistance of the thermistor changes with temperature, and this change is monitored by the Cycle Control Unit (CCU), which controls the heating element in your dryer.
If the outlet thermistor fails, the dryer will likely not heat and will probably display an error code.
