Introduction |
The Toshiba Satellite E45-B4200, model number E45-B4200, has a replaceable heat sink. Running a system with a faulty heatsink can quickly destroy the processor and melt the motherboard. This could make the whole system useless. As with the fan, replacing the heatsink is a much less expensive fix than replacing an entire system. If you are having a heating and cooling issue, make sure it isn't any other issue that you can find on the the [[Toshiba Satellite E45-B4200 Troubleshooting|Toshiba Satellite E45-B4200 Troubleshooting|new_window=true]] page.
Before beginning this repair, be sure to turn off the laptop, unplug the power cord, and remove the external battery. This device didn't have an external battery so we weren't able to demonstrate that step. In addition, the fan was broken off the heat sink so it will likely look different than your device. |
