Introduction
The Lightning, or dock, connector is the main connection between the charging port and the logic board. it's probably the most damaged connector on an Apple device, as it is the most used connector, providing both charging and data communications to the phone.
Replacing the dock connector can fix problems with charging, synching with a computer, not recognizing accessories, or sound issues when connected through an adapter. It will also resolve issues with sensors mic1 and PRS0 that result in boot loops.
