The S400C comes with 4GB of RAM soldered on the motherboard and hence non-removable. The official Asus position is that the RAM expansion slot supports a maximum of 4 GB memory for a total of 8 GB. However, my own system is running a Samsung 8 GB M471B1G73EB0-YK0 module, for a total of 12 GB. Note that you must be running a 64-bit operating system to use more than 4 GB of memory. The expansion slot takes DDR3L PC3L-12800 1600 MHz SODIMM memory. ***Best practices state that you should wear an ESD (Electro Static Discharge) wrist strap when replacing computer memory.***
