Introduction
Follow this guide to remove and replace the display assembly on a Motorola Edge.
Before you begin, download the [link|https://www.motorola.com/us/rescue-and-smart-assistant/p|Rescue and Smart Assistant|new_window=true] app to backup your device and diagnose whether your problem is software or hardware related.
***There is a significant chance that you may break the unreinforced and fragile display panel during this procedure.*** Be sure to apply plenty of heat and be extremely careful during the prying stage.
You’ll need to remove the battery in order to replace the display. ***If the battery is deformed, dented, or damaged in any way, do not reinstall it. Reinstalling a damaged battery is a potential safety hazard.***
***For your safety, discharge the battery below 25% before disassembling your phone.*** This reduces the risk of fire if the battery is accidentally damaged during the repair. If your battery is swollen, [[What to do with a swollen battery|take appropriate precautions|new_window=true]].
***Note:*** Some replacement screens for this phone come pre-installed in a new frame (a.k.a. chassis), which requires you to transplant all of your phone's internals and install a new battery. If you have that type of screen, ++[guide|150025|follow this guide instead|new_window=true]++.
