How to fix the alert slider from registering only 2 of the 3 positions
Introduction
One of the sound modes of the OnePlus 6 or 6T does not get recognized by the software anymore. The device can only be set into two modes - either sound, vibrate, or silence - and the third one is not recognized.
The cause of this issue is the accumulation of dust in the slider. This prevents the slider from reaching (one of the) outermost positions. It is possible that the slider does look clean from the outside and that the slider still moves completely to the non-working side.

If you cannot remove more dust from the slider then it should be fixed. Try moving it to the other positions and feel whether the slider ‘click’s into the positions.
