| This guide will describe the process for replacing the heatsink assembly on a Lenovo Yoga 730-13IKB laptop (''model number starting with “81CT”)''. | | Problems with the heatsink assembly can cause the laptop to overheat (and potentially freeze or shutdown) and make extremely loud or abnormal noises. Strange noises can be caused by coolingCooling fans that are broken or have debris in them. Overheating can result from debriscause strange noises. Debris in the heatsink and/or nonfunctioning cooling fans usually result in overheating. Nonfunctional cooling fans can be caused by unpluggedUnplugged connectors, debris, or broken electronics can prevent cooling fans from functioning. | | | Make sure to clean the heatsink assembly throughly before installation. Using compressed air is a great, ESD-safe, way to dislodge debris. You will need a Phillips #00 driver, plastic opening tools, and a spudger to complete this guide.
