Title
How to Force Eject Kingston Data Traveler SE9 G2 3.0 USB Flash Drive on Mac
Introduction
I have many 64 GB Kingston DataTraveler SE9 G2 3.0 USB Flash Drives and occasionally one will not eject after use, even when all applications are quit. Rather than go thru elaborate other methods, I found this Terminal command to actually work.
First check with Terminal how your flash drive is named by typing
df
at the bottom of that list you will see the name of your flash, something like
/Volumes/USB3_2
next, using that name type in Terminal
hdiutil eject -force /Volumes/USB3_2
Quick and effective!
