The LCD display on your laptop is an output device consisting of multiple layers. In the case of a shattered or cracked screen, the layer of glass at the front of the display is at fault. Alternatively, in the case of malfunctioning pixels, other layers such as the backlight may needbe at fault. In any case, the entire display will have to be removed and replaced if the screen is cracked or has malfunctioning pixels. This guide covers how to remove the entire LCD screendisplay to make way for a new one.
Steps in this guide can be reversed for installation of a replacement screen.
