If your Whirlpool refrigerator’s (Type 21MCD, Model WRS571CIHV00) lightbulb has gone out or stopped working, you most likely need to replace the lightbulb in the fridge.
The lightbulb in the fridge allows you to see into the depths of the fridge. Just like regular lightbulbs in your light fixtures throughout your house can stop working, so can the fridge’s lightbulb.
Be careful when removing the lightbulb as it is glass and can shatter if too much pressure is applied.

Pull the refrigerator out from the wall until you can safely slide behind it.

Unplug the refrigerator from its power source. This is normally found directly behind the refrigerator, just firmly grasp the plug and remove.

Using the Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the 1/2'' screw holding the plastic cover in place.

Pull back the plastic cover with your hand as shown in the figure.

You will want to hold this piece back for the next few steps as indicated in each step.

Twist the lightbulb to the left to loosen it from the receptacle.

Once loosened, remove the lightbulb from the receptacle and throw it away.

Again, your other hand will still be holding the plastic housing back from the receptacle.

Place the appropriate wattage and size lightbulb into the receptacle.

Using your other hand, continue to hold the plastic housing back to have better access to the receptacle.

Twist the lightbulb to the right to tighten the bulb back into the receptacle.

Your other hand should still be holding the plastic housing back.

Use the Phillips #1 to replace the 1/2'' screw back into the plastic cover and tighten it by twisting to the right.

Slide behind the refrigerator and place the plug back into the outlet.

To place the plug back in, align the prongs with the holes in the outlet and push until the plug is seated firmly against the outlet.

Push the refrigerator back against the wall.
