The guide will demonstrate the steps necessary to replace a bad battery charging port with a new one. The speaker will be disassembled from a fully assembled condition by following the necessary steps listed in this guide to replace the faulty charging port. For this repair guide only a Phillips screwdriver and the replacement board are necessary. This replacement is very straight forward and very simple for a beginner.

Remove the 6 10mm Philips head screws shown, using a PH1 screwdriver

Remove the 5 8mm Philips head screws shown. These are holding the battery and the green circuit board in.

Lift the battery pack and circuit board out of the housing and locate the wires and ribbon connector shown in the figure.

Remove the ribbon connector and the connector from the battery pack (Note: These connectors are not easy to remove. Force may be necessary but the connectors are durable)

After the connections are remove you are free to replace the circuit board.

Hello. If you have some soldering experience, it is more economical to replace just a charging port itself. Just google this exact words Micro USB Charging Port OEM Type for Sony SRS-X3 and you’ll find it. Good luck with your project!
Hi, I have this same problem, broken USB charging port. The soldering looks very fiddly to me, so I would prefer to buy a complete new replacement board if anyone knows where to source it?

Hi, no I haven’t found a replacement board. I kind of forgot about this (bought a Marshall speaker instead ;-) ), but have just found this speaker at the back of my cupboard and still want to repair it. Has anyone found these small powerboards anywhere?
Thanks alot! Worked like a charm, the "belt" came off the circuit but after just pushing it back the boombox works fine.
