The earmuffs may need to be replaced if they are damaged over time or due to excessive exposure to water. The process to replace the earmuffs is quite easy and can be done in under a minute. You can contact Sennheiser for additional spare parts such as the earmuff. You will not need any other tools for this replacement process.

Grab the earmuff with one hand and hold the headphones with the other.

Pull the earmuff near the top until the seam starts to pull from the split in the headphone case. Continue until the earmuff fully separates from the headphones as shown.

Putting the muffs back on is very fiddly as you need to feed the edges into a narrow slit that goes right round.
