If your Schlage Keypad Deadbolt Lock (also known as Schlage BE365 CAM 626 or Schlage Camelot Electronic Keypad Deadbolt) low-battery indicator is flashing red, or if the lock is not working as expected, then your battery needs to be replaced.
Use this guide to replace a dead or faulty 9V battery in a Schlage Keypad Door Lock.
A functional battery allows you to lock and unlock your door without a key. A low or dead battery can disrupt the lock's function, making it slower or stop working completely. This increases the chance of a lockout.
A swollen or punctured battery is a sign of danger, potentially causing a fire. If you notice the battery is swollen during the replacement process, take necessary precautions and handle it with care.
After you've replaced the battery, make sure to properly dispose of the old battery. You can take the old battery to a local battery recycling facility for proper disposal. Searching for "battery recycling facility near me" or including your postal/zip code in the search will help you find a facility near you. You can also search for battery drop-off locations if you don't live close to a recycling facility. You can check Call2Recycle Canada and enter your postal/zip code to find a drop-off location near you.
