If the ice maker in your Samsung RF4287HABP refrigerator isn’t producing ice, you may be experiencing the common issue of over-freezing. Follow this guide to defrost and reset your ice maker.
Samsung refrigerators are well known for this problem and are currently undergoing a class-action lawsuit alleging that the ice makers are defective. This guide can be used as a temporary solution while many readers are awaiting the verdict.
Before starting this guide, inspect your icebox. A recurring concern is users are unable to easily pull out their ice maker tray and have an overgrowth of ice in the icebox. If you follow these steps and decipher the issue is not from your ice maker over-freezing, no harm will occur.
After forcing the ice maker to defrost(step 2), make sure to disconnect the refrigerator from its electrical source. All materials inside the icebox should come apart easily. Forcing materials out when ice is still present could result in damage to your ice maker.

Push the “Energy Saver” button and “Fridge” button for about 8 seconds.

After you hear a beep, continue to press the “Energy Saver” button until “Fd” appears.

Take the ice maker tray out of the icebox and place it in the sink to melt the remaining ice off.

Attempt to scrape any ice out of the icebox and defrost the remaining ice with a hairdryer or heat gun.

Unscrew the 0.05 mm screw on the left side panel inside the icebox with a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Carefully detach the plug connected to the thick white tube located to the left in the back of the icebox.

Press the lever down and slide the ice maker forward at the very top of the icebox.

Take out the ice tray and place it in the sink. Use a hairdryer to defrost the ice tray completely.

Press and hold the restart button located on the top of the ice maker beside the lever.
