This guide is for a Porter-Cable 20V Oscillating Multi-Tool with the model number: PCC710B. This guide will help you replace a broken or malfunctioning eccentric shaft.
The eccentric shaft transmits power from the motor to the cutting blade. A worn or broken shaft will not be able to transmit power from the motor to the cutting blade.
Other power issues and possible fixes can be found here.
If your tool's power is working with no issues, but the oscillating tool is not moving back and fourth properly, it could also be due to a loose blade which you can fix by following these steps.
If all else fails, it's likely the eccentric shaft is not transmitting power correctly so you'll need to follow the steps below.
TIP: You will come across thick yellowish grease when dealing with these parts. The tool parts need this grease to function, so don't clean it from the tool! Bring a rag or napkin to wipe your hands after you finish handling these parts.
Before beginning this guide, make sure the battery of the tool is taken off, you do not want any power source connected to the device while working on this replacement!
