This guide walks you through the process of replacing a worn out battery in a Nokia 3.1 smartphone. The process is quite straight forward. You only need some patience while removing the back cover as it might be hard to open it up at first.

You will need a model HE336 battery replacement.

Try to use a thin tool like a razor blade to start to pry open the back cover.
When you opened it up just a little bit put a plastic card or a plastic opening tool inside the gap.
Using the plastic tool slowly make your way around the back cover. You can also use a guitar pick or similar.
Hint: the back cover is attached to the body with several plastic noses as well as a thin strip of adhesive. The cover is quite flexible and sturdy.

Remove the seven Torx T5 screws from the logic board cover.
Remove the logic board cover.
Lift up the battery connector from the logic board.

At the bottom end of the battery you will see two black ends of adhesive strips showing up from underneath the battery.
Slowly pull at those adhesive strip ends to be able to lift out the battery.

Much as on some iPhones, the glue strips are hard to pull out, so warm up the phone by putting it screen-down on a hot bean bag or a bag of rice, which softens them a lt. They stretch a lot as you pull them, expect them to pull out to a good 25cm. Make sure you hold on to the battery as you pull it so as to avoid yanking on the connector when the glue lets go – or make sure you disconnect the battery first, as in the previous step.
