In the Ninja Foodi SP101 / FT102A, the cooling fan is a key part to ensure the units' control electronics returns to room temperature after use. Before starting this guide, ensure that the Foodi is disconnected from power and completely cooled off.

Use a TR10 screwdriver to remove the four 11mm screws holding the black lever bar in place.

Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the three 8mm screws on each side of the back panel.

Flip the device upside down and open the bottom panel.

Remove the 3 x philips #1 screws along the top edge of the interior using a screwdriver. The Bottom 2 do not have to be removed.

Remove the control side panel. To remove it, push forward towards then front control panel to release the tabs out of the main body. Fold away the side panel when the tabs have visually released from their slots in the main body.

Lift the handle and pull the side panel out.

Remove the handle side panel.
There's a Torx screw inside the oven you need to remove as well...

Remove the screw from the electronics assembly plastic frame as shown. Don't drop the screw upon removal!

Lift the assembly slightly such that the screw to the metal tab that holds the fan in place can be accessed. Remove it with a Philips screw driver. Do not drop it. Use help holding up the assembly if so needed. Do not bend the tab.

Remove the black cooling fan by sliding it out. There are retaining tabs on the sides that need to be lifted to release the fan.

Remove the red cable that attaches the cooling fan to the motherboard. Squeeze the tab on the red connector and pull slightly at the same time to release it.

Remove the cooling fan and replace it with a new fan of equal size and type: 60 x 60 x 15 mm, 12V DC. Carefully compare for fitment.

Solder the wires together and apply appropriate insulation. Red to red (+), black to black (-) Shrink wrap works well.

Ensure that the replacement fan is an INTAKE fan, pulling air into the box. (A prior version of this guide had the direction reversed).

A good replacement candidate of the fan can be bought from www.digikey.com. Part number 259-1802-ND. It is a Sunon fan of higher quality than the Hongfei HD-6015L12R fan that is replaced. This fan is confirmed to blow air into the same direction as the old fan.

Insert the new Sunon fan with the label facing into the control electronics compartment. The wires need to exit the fan housing on the top when inserted. Dress the wires to ensure that they do not touch the (hot) metal housing or heatsink. Use tie wraps if needed.
Step 10, paragraph 4: does the electronics cooling fan blow onto the circuit board or does it evacuate hot air by blowing out through the bottom. Is “over” a typo and should be “oven?”
The fan is an intake fan, the original instructions in step 10 and 11 were incorrect. See comments below

Reassemble oven in the reverse order as in the first steps.

Test the oven for good functionality. The fan will come on after a few minutes of (pre-)heating so wait until that occur. Ensure the fan air is being pulled into the unit. If installed backwards, the Foodi will stop after about 10 minutes with ERROR 1. A good test is to run a complete cycle for 15 minutes on Air Fry at 425F.

Where did you source the fan?
Can you provide the model # of the fan you replaced with ; and for Steve Hemphill did you pull the fan out yet ? what was the old fan make/model, maybe Amazon has one.
This is a 60x60x15mm 12 volt fan. I purchased one on Amazon, it doesn't really matter which one as long as it's the correct measurements. The white plastic 2 pin connector should work in the stock board, but you can swap the connector from the old fan onto the new one easily by depressing the two locking tabs on the electrical pins. Make sure the orientation is correct, this is an intake fan and should be pulling air into the case. If the fan is installed backwards, the unit will overheat.
I just did this repair, and used the Noctua NF-A6x15 FLX fan (Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DJMHV4RP ) and it's vastly quieter.
However, I was getting the overheat (Error 1 Call Cust Srvc) messages when cooking anything that took over 5 minutes.
I just re-read Ian's comment, and I'm pretty sure I have the fan installed backwards (it's exhausting rather than pulling cool air into the case).
Will reverse the installation and report back.
I think I see why I was confused. Step 11 says "Ensure the fan air is blowing out of the unit." and that's what I did.
However, Ian M's comment says "Make sure the orientation is correct, this is an intake fan and should be pulling air into the case. If the fan is installed backwards, the unit will overheat."
I followed Step 11 and I'm definitely getting overheating, so I think Ian M may be correct.
Confirmed: both Step 10 and 11 are backwards. The fan is an intake fan, air should be pulled in, not pushed out.
I have verified that installing the fan in the correct direction works normally, and there are no more overheat errors
Can I ask how you removed the side panel? I have been "pushing it forward towads the control panel" and then trying to pull it out for about an hour now. I unscrewed the three screws but something towards the control panel is still strongly keeping the panel attached
@lukedavis61808 Agree, this was a confusing step.
Referring to the 3rd picture in Step 5: it shows the top of the panel separated, and the 3 L-shaped tabs at the bottom of the panel. These are what you are fighting.
My technique:
* first, make sure you got all the screws (I seem to remember more than three, so check that).
* Then bend the top of the side panel out about 1/4 inch: the top side should not be secured ("top" as in Step 5 picture 3).
* Then give it a medium whack on the back side with a rubber mallet in the direction you want it to move (rightwards, in the picture for Step 5, picture 3)
