Your Nikon Coolpix S5 has buttons on the back that control the operation of the camera. These buttons can become damaged or loose, which makes it hard to use the camera. This guide explains how to open the back of the camera and install replacement buttons.
Disconnect the camera from its charger before beginning this repair.

Remove the wristlet by untying the strap.

Remove the four screws adjacent to the SD/battery opening using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Remove the side paneling of the camera by prying it off with your hands.

Start on the wristlet side of the camera and use the #00 Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the backplate in place.

Repeat the removal of the two screws on the other side of the camera.

Separate the back faceplate from the rest of the camera.

The plate holding the buttons is on the right side of the camera. Use your fingers to open it to the right, away from the LCD screen. Do not twist or force the panel open. It should lift easily.

Pull on ribbon cables to disconnect ribbon cables.
