This replacement guide is useful for someone who needs to replace a damaged rear derailleur for a Mt Fury Roadmaster.

Flip the bicycle upside down so that the bicycle rests on the seat and handlebars. The bike should be able to stay standing on its own.

Locate and remove the main axle nuts (both sides) with a 15mm open-end wrench.

Pull the chain slack and remove the tire.

Locate and remove the rear phillips head screw on the sprocket to remove one side of chain guard.

Rotate the derailleur arm forward to access the phillips head screw from the forwardmost sprocket. Remove the screw.

Be careful to hold the chain guard in place so the sprocket and washers don't fall out. (Chain guard is highlighted in red).

Locate and loosen the hex bolt that clamps the shifting cable.

Remove mounting screw that attaches the derailleur to the bicycle frame.

Loosen the shifting cable tension adjustment nut and remove the cable from the derailleur assembly .

To install new derailleur, follow these instructions in reverse order.
