    • With the case closed, place the Unibody top-side down on a flat surface.

    • Depress the grooved side of the access door release latch enough to grab the free end. Lift the release latch until it is vertical.

  2. MacBook Unibody Model A1278 Access Door Replacement: crwdns2935265:02crwdnd2935265:01crwdnd2935265:01crwdne2935265:0
    • The access door should now be raised enough to lift it up and out of the Unibody.

Are there more than one A1278? Mine is the MacBook Pro 13” from 2010, which has no access door, but just a single body shell (613-8316-A)

Yes there are multiple machines with the model identifier A1278. In fact all non retina 13“ MacBook Pro models share the same A1278 model identifier as well as the Late 2008 Aluminum MacBook. However only the Late 2008 MacBook has the split access door.
