Replacing the battery on a MacBook Unibody is an easy task.

-
-
With the case closed, place the Unibody top-side down on a flat surface.
-
Depress the grooved side of the access door release latch enough to grab the free end. Lift the release latch until it is vertical.
-
-
-
-
The access door should now be raised enough to lift it up and out of the Unibody.
-
-
-
Grab the translucent plastic tab and pull the battery up and out of the Unibody.
-
If the latch is depressed it will lock the battery in place.

I recently replaced my battery for the macbook pro late 2008 model number A1281, I have a weared problem with that - System shuts down while connected to power when it is Turned On.
I tried NVRAM reset also but no luck, Any help on this would be appreciable.
Thanks

Have just received the A1281 replacement battery. However it does not charge. The magsafe light is on green but the battery is not charging. When I put in my old battery the magsafe goes to amber and it starts to charge. Any ideas?
I just bought a new battery to replace A1281, and I have the same issue as you : the battery is not charging, power charger light is green.
I've tried to reset SMC, but it didn't solve anything.
