How to flash MNT Reform keyboard firmware

The MNT Reform keyboard firmware is available in the reform2-keyboard-fw folder of the Reform repository.

Before starting, on your Reform, download it:

git clone git@source.mnt.re:reform/reform.git

Navigate to the keyboard firmware folder:

cd reform/reform2-keyboard-fw/

And compile it:

make

    • Remove the following screws securing the keyboard frame to the main box:

    • Six black M2×5mm countersunk Philips screws

    • Lift the top of the keyboard frame and pull it out towards the screen.

    • Your Reform should now look like this.

    • When re-assembling the Reform, insert the bottom of the keyboard frame into the main box before pressing it down. If the frame is not straight, very gently un-warp it, section by section with both hands close together.

    • Don't bend it with both hands on opposite ends of the frame — you'll likely twist it, especially the thinnest parts around the OLED display!

    • Using a spudger or your fingernail, set the SW84 switch to ON.

    • The SW84 programming DIP switch is located near the F4 key of the keyboard, and to the left of the OLED display.

    • Before you move on to the next step, you need to make sure you will be able to enter the ./flash.sh command without using the Reform's keyboard.

    • You have two options:

    • Connect an external USB keyboard.

    • Copy the ./flash.sh command followed by a new line in your text editor, so that you can paste it and run it without the use of a keyboard.

    • The script needs to be run as root, so make sure that you are using a root shell, or that sudo will not ask you to enter a password.

    • Press the SW83 reset button, located right under the DIP switch from the previous step.

    • Run ./flash.sh as root.
