Although this guide states the soles cannot be removed and successfully replaced and you must therefore purchase them before you begin. this PREREQUISITE guide goes over removal and replacement... They aren't cheap, so you may wish to go there first.

Remove the soles (the aluminosilicate glass feet or slides) to access the screws, then remove them.

Separate the upper and lower case parts by splitting them into two from where they are connected.

Remove the pin by pushing it with a thin stick or screwdriver

Lift the wheel to remove it.

Peel off the Kapton tape on the metal dome switch and take out the metal plate inside

Bend so that the center rises by about 0.2mm

Put the metal plate back

Affix Kapton tape to fix (if not available, cellotape can be substituted.)

Shape Kapton tape (scotch tape) with a cutter, etc.

To reassemble your device, follow these steps in reverse order.

Putting a tiny kink into the metal dome worked perfectly. And I already had a roll of Kapton tape on hand. I never would've realized the little dome was only held on by the tape if not for this guide. Just figured the tape was there to prevent shorting on top or something. That thought made little sense once I saw a bunch of these buttons available and designed without tape but a metal case instead.
