A hole in a sock can be reason to throw it out, but fixing the problem before it gets worse can save your favorite pair. This technique can save you from throwing out a perfectly good, repairable sock with a hole in it. It may be helpful to practice sewing before attempting this method, although this is a great place to start your sewing journey.

Cut about 15 inches of thread in a similar color to your sock.
-
-
-
Pass the thread through the needle’s hole and knot it at the end.
-
-
-
Turn the sock inside-out.
-
Flatten the sock.
-
-
-
Starting at one corner of the hole, insert the needle through the edge and pull it out the other edge.
-
-
-
-
Repeat Step 4, but now in the opposite direction not too far from the previous stitch.
-
-
-
Continue repeating Steps 4 and 5 until you get to the end of the hole.
-
-
-
Insert half of the needle and wrap the thread around the needle three times.
-
-
-
While holding the thread, send the needle all the way through.
-
-
-
Cut the excess thread with the scissors.
-
-
-
Turn the sock so the right side is facing outwards.
