Measure the thread.

Cut the thread at desired length.

Pull the thread through the needle until both ends of the thread meet.

Tie a knot at the end of the thread.

Position the strap to where it was originally located on the hat.

Ensure that the strap doesn't move by using a binder clip to hold it in place.

Starting on the inside of the hat, poke the needle through the cap and loose strap.

Pull the needle through the fabric and out the other end.

Move the needle a few millimeters to the left and poke the needle through the front of the hat.

Pull the needle out on the other end.

Repeat steps 6 and 7 until the strap is fully sewn onto the hat.

Tie a knot as close to the base of the hat as possible and cut the thread.
