If the bottoms of your jeans are worn and starting to fray, it’s time for a quick and easy repair. Frequent wear and washing can cause hems to deteriorate, resulting in fraying and tears, especially if they drag on the floor.
Follow this guide to hem your jeans quickly and easily using basic tools and a few steps.

Cut away loose threads from the bottom of each pant leg with scissors.

Use a tape measure/ruler to measure the length of the worn area.

Mark the measurements across the fabric with a pen/pencil.

Use scissors to trim along the marked line, creating a straight hem.

Fold the bottom of the jeans up to create a cuff.

Poke the needle through the jean.
-
Bring the needle back up at a second point to pin it in place.

Cut a piece of thread twice the length of the jean cuff.

Insert the thread through the needle’s eye.

Tie a knot at the ends of the thread to secure it.

Insert the needle from underneath the folded hem.
-
Pull the needle through the fabric to the top.

Move the needle half of a centimeter to the right and pull the needle through the fabric to the bottom.

Repeat this along the hem to create even stitches.

Insert the needle near the last stitch.

Pull the thread partially to make a loop.
-
Pass the needle through the loop and pull tight to secure the knot.

Repeat twice for extra strength.

Turn the jeans inside out again.

Repeat the same process on the other leg.
