Place the dirty baking sheet on a flat surface.

Tip: This method can be used on stained pots and pans as well.
-
Tip: This method works best if you clean the stained baking sheet as soon as it has cooled after use.
-
Note: The liquid on the baking sheet is grease. This method will work whether or not there is grease on the baking sheet
-

Pour a small amount of water over the baking soda so the baking soda looks pasty.
-
Tip: Do not put too much water on the baking soda, as it will cause the baking soda to spread and not stay on the desired cleaning area.
-
-
-
Set a timer for 15 minutes, press start, and wait until timer goes off.
-
-
-
Take a sponge and clean the desired area.
-
Tip: If the baking soda becomes too thick when scrubbing, add more water.
-
Tip: Using the rough side of the sponge makes cleaning easier.
-
-
-
Rinse off the baking soda and wash the baking sheet again with soap and water.

I’ve also had good success getting stains off stainless steel following a similar process but using cream of tartar + vinegar instead of baking soda + water. Cream of tartar with vinegar forms an acidic paste instead of the alkaline paste of the baking soda. Of course, don’t mix these approaches or expect unhelpful frothiness.
Don, thanks for the additional tips, especially the acidic versus alkaline aspects.
is that a non stick baking sheet? How is it on steel?
