Have a ratchet, 10 mm and 14 mm sockets and a socket extension ready.

Put on safety glasses and protective gloves and keep rags and paper towels handy.

Check that the old crush washer is not stuck to the pan and wipe the sealing surface clean.

Fit the new washer on the plug as oriented earlier and thread the plug in by hand.
