Turn the power off and unplug the power cord.

Dislodge hose from plastic clips for ease of removal.

Press firmly on the hose button and slide hose out.

Pull the hose out of the top of the vacuum.

what might my problem be? I will start vacuuming and the noise will change to an almost “air escaping” sound and it loses suction. It will make this sound when the filter is very dirty or when the bag is full.
Currently neither of these two things are applicable but it does it almost immediately after turning on. The sound change seems to be coming from the top of the main unit near the handle.

The handle itself has two small Phillips head screws that appear to hold the top and bottom of the assembly together.
However, when the screws are removed, the handle does not come apart. What am I missing??
