even though the hose is tightly attached just before the trash is sucked into the turbine area is can be loosened by using a hammer and screwdriver. You get the tab that is back behind another tab keeping the first in place and tap it so the first tab is parallel to the bottom of the second tab. Then you use the hammer and screwdriver to move the collar around so the first tab moves beyond the second tab. Then you use the screwdriver and hammer to dislodge the hose then draw it back so the whole hose is free. There is where you will find the likely culprit making it so what you pick up does not make it into the collection canister. It took awhile but I got it cleaned out using my broom handle to put all of the compacted dirt out, and now my cleaner works great. Thanks for all of the help I would have never seen that connection without the pictures and explanations.
