Honda S2000 VTEC Solenoid Upper Replacement

    • Locate the VTEC solenoid on the front left of the engine.

    • Do not drop the cable that is attached by a bolt.

    • Pull the plug upwards and off of metal cable holder. Disconnect the two cables.

    • Remove the metal cable holder and set it to the side.

    • Pull off the upper VTEC solenoid.

    • Grab a new replacement upper solenoid.

    • Place the gasket (new or used if still good) into its slot.

    • A gasket is a flexible material that is used to make a seal between two connections. This prevents leaks between the two surfaces.

    • Spread a small amount of oil along the gasket.

    • Grab a metal cable holder and place one of the bolts into it.

    • Hand tighten all three bolts.

    • Ensure the metal cable holder is straight.

    • Tighten all 3 bolts with a ratchet carefully. Do not overtighten as you can strip the bolts.

    • Plug the cable back in, and attach it to the metal holder.
