    • Pull out the optical drive.

    • Remove the four 10 mm screws (one at each corner).

    • Turn the laptop right side up and open the screen.

    • Use the plastic opening tool to loosen and remove the keyboard. Begin in the middle top of the keyboard and work around the edges.

    • The keyboard will snap out, but do not remove it completely. It is still attached to the device by a ribbon cable.

    • Flip up the keyboard to access the ribbon cable underneath.

    • Disconnect the keyboard ribbon cable from the motherboard.

    • Remove the keyboard.

    • Release the faceplate with your fingers or a spudger. Begin at the top left corner and work your way around to snap the faceplate away from the body of the laptop.

    • Turn over the face plate to access the underside of the touchpad.
