The heat sink draws heat away from the computer to cool it. The heat sink can often become dirty or need a new application of thermal paste to function properly.

Turn the laptop upside down with the battery compartment facing you.

Slide the battery release latch to the right and hold in place.

Lift the front edge of the battery up and remove it from the compartment.

Position laptop with heat sink compartment facing you.

Locate the one 2x5 mm Torx screw.

Remove the one 2x5 mm Torx screw securing the thermal cover with a #6 Torx screwdriver.

Lift thermal cover to reveal heat sink.

Remove and set aside thermal cover.

Locate the four screws on each corner of heat sink.

Unscrew the four 2x12 mm screws with a #00 Phillips screwdriver.

Grab sides of heat sink and carefully lift from compartment.
