If the CD/DVD drive in your HP Pavilion 17-f127ds is causing problems, or has stopped working entirely, this guide will walk through how to remove and replace it. The new optical drive should resolve any issue regarding the optical drive, most common of which being the disk not reading in the drive, skipping tracks, or not ejecting the disk properly. All you will need a Phillips #1 screwdriver (and #0 screwdriver if you need to replace the bracket on the optical drive [see step 3]), and a spudger, or any other prying tool. This repair is quick and easy and can be done in 10 minutes or less.
