    • Start by flipping the computer, so that the bottom is facing up.

    • Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, remove all of the 6.9 mm screws on the back cover.

    • Run an iFixit opening tool along the edges of the back cover to disconnect all the plastic hooks.

    • Remove the back cover.

Do not take off the bottom plate! After removing all the visible screws and the two screws that are hidden under the tiny rubber pats next to the battery, flip the laptop right side up and pry the keyboard of starting from the screen side. Disconnect all ribbon cables and remove all exposed screws. Now the whole palm rest can be lifted up. See my reaction below for a better disassembly guide

There are so many parts connected to the back cover, you can't just take out the screws and pry it off you will ruin your laptop.

I've used iFixit plenty of times and never had an issue so I assumed it was safe to follow this guide.

For example the hard drive, webcam, wifi card, and charging port are all connected to the back cover.

DO NOT FOLLOW THIS GUIDE!!!!

It is incorrect, this laptop is meant to be taken appart from the top. You have to remove the keyboard and then work your way down. Follow this guide instead:
