Is there a guide on how to reapply the thermal paste?

…and where to buy the thermal paste?

    Alex - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0

Any thermal paste will do, which you can get from best buy or similar.

See the second image of step 5 for where to apply it. Just screw the assembly back on after.

    Evan Elm -

What about the type of thermal paste to use?

I've checked online, and the range from a couple of dollars to 10 times the price?

II've never used thermal paste before, so some suggestions or tips / hints would be great thanks 🙏

    Cheers...

Hey !

thanks for the tuto..

I have the new design of this laptop (gigabyte AERO 15 OLED YA, the one with the doubble hinges)… and i was wondering if the fans are the same as the ones in the tuto or not…

one of mine is broken ( I suspect a broken bearing) and i want to replace them.

have a nice day !

I couldn’t find any information on the newer models. The model numbers should be on the backside of the fans if you remove the assembly (I listed the model numbers of the fans for this one in the parts section).

Even if they aren’t the same, the merchant might still have them.

Hey ! I just bought the Philips screwdrivers and the fan assembly is not the same as yours. I have 2 more heat pipes, the batterie is more on the right and the secondary ssd is on the left side of the batterie.

I’ll first clean my fans ( totally full of dirt/dust) while installed. I have to work on the machine. I’ll respond to this post with the model numbers for the newer gen versions.

Have a nice day !

Can this fan repair still be applied to Aero Gigabyte 17 inch laptop? I hear clicking or grinding with my fans. I used Air Duster spray to help remove excess dust. I’m also using a laptop cooler to help cool my laptop just in case.

Amazing tut! I bought my fans on eBay since the ones linked here were too expensive for me. I got them both for $60 from a Chinese vendor haha but they have been working fine till now.

Hi, great tutorial thanks. Any recommendations or tips when buying the thermal paste?

Anything in particular to know about the best brands or type of paste?

Alex - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0

Hello, thank you for the guide. It all looks quite straightforward, but how much thermal paste would I need for both fans? 1gram? 4 grams? I can get Cooler Master or Artic 4 or similar - is this the right type?
