The motor is the most important part of the DC56. If the vacuum stops working completely you could need to replace the motor.

Make sure the vacuum is unplugged from charger.

Locate the purple button at the top of the device.

Separate the device with the purple button.

Locate and remove the 10mm Phillips head screw using a Phillips #1 screw driver.

Locate and remove #000 25mm phillips screw on the reverse side of the vacuum

Pull the battery pack down and away from the main body and remove it from the device.

Take out the 10mm screw using a Phillips #1 screwdriver.

Use a spudger to separate the back plate covering the motor.

Use a flat spudger to loosen and remove the motor out of the vacuum.
