    • Remove the original battery. It is housed near the hinge of the device. The battery compartment opens using the latch marked in red

    • Once removed, use a 9V-block to replace the original battery. The "-"-contact should be the one in the front, facing you. This is the bigger contact marked with a red circle.

    • Since you already have a label printer on hand, it's a good idea to stick this polarity information next to the compartment for future reference. E. g. "'-' in front"

    • Since the 9V-block is smaller than the original battery, wrap it in some bubble wrap or similar. It is also shorter, so add some cushioning to the top of the cavity.

    • The original won't charge, so replacing it with an OEM replacement is likely futile.

    • If you are only printing labels once in a blue moon - take out the battery for storage. You can conveniently store it in the compartment with the contacts flipped towards the top.

My LabelManager PnP doesn't get a lot of use, and its battery had expired since I last used it which means it won't now print.

The LabelManager PnP is now discontinued, there's no like-for-like replacement, a replacement battery is about £30 (half what the label maker cost when I bought it), and the cost of replacement cells to rebuild the battery isn't that much cheaper than a new battery.

So to discover this iFixit article, and to be able to 'fix' my label maker using just a 9V battery and print the labels I needed was an unexpected result.

The 9V battery is now removed and the label maker back in its drawer waiting for next time, but this is exactly the kind of article I love finding on iFixit, I fixed a broken item, saved some money, and learnt something new.
Thank you!
