This describes a diagnostic test for Acura technicians investigating ... well, issues with the climate control, or other sensors. Value to the owner/operator = minimal. But it's fun to try out.

Let's have at it.

  1.     • Insert the key in the ignition.

    • On the heating/cooling control, press and hold the AUTO and DUAL buttons.

    • Turn the ignition key to Start (III) to start the vehicle normally. (The key returns to the ON (II) position after starting.)

    • Sensor values start displaying on the climate control display.

  2. Display all the vehicle temperature sensors: step 2, image 1 of 2 Display all the vehicle temperature sensors: step 2, image 2 of 2
    • Cycle through the displayed values with the REAR DEFROSTER button. The code for display displays in the left (Driver's temp) segment, alternating the code number and the value.

    • 1. In-car temperature in Celsius.

    • 2. Ambient temperature in Celsius.

    • 3. Solar radiation sensor: Dark=00, flashlight=04, cloudy=10, sunny=65.

    • 4. Engine coolant temperature.

    • 5. Evaporator outlet temp in Celsius.

    • 6. Driver's air mix opening (% of opening).

    • 7. Passenger's air mix opening.

    • 8. Vehicle speed in Km/h.*

    • *2004-2005 model year. Later years shows 00 for 0-9 Km/h, 01 for 10-19 Km/h, etc.

    • 9. Vent air out temperature.
